How to Paint Stripes on a Ceiling
Painting stripes on a ceiling creates a magical optical illusion in a room. There are many areas of a room to consider when painting stripes. Painted stripes can be on a whole heap of places like the ceiling, walls, floors, bookcases…… list goes on forever. Today, let’s take a look at Ruby George Sun Pruitt’s painted stripes in her beautiful upstairs bedroom. WINK WINK!

The floral fabric was used to get the parrot green for the colored stripe and the white stripe came from the woodwork color. I decided to really make an open air look in the room. WINK! To accomplish this, I used a pretty sky blue for the walls. This made the canopy appear to be a tent.

The other curtain used is a long, Russell pleated white linen on the end wall. Keeping it in a light weight fabric helps to keep the room again, open and airy.

Here are some points to consider when striping a ceiling :
- Decide on the size and direction of the stripe
- Measure and calculate the width of stripe to determine how many to make
- Paint the ceiling the lightest color first
- Apply painters tape for the darkest stripe
- Use an angle brush to paint against tape or a roller if the stripe is wide
It is worth the time and effort to do a stripped area in your home. You are only limited by your imagination. WINK!
